Firefly Farm
Biography

We care a lot about how our food tastes, so we scour the market to find the most delicious fruit and vegetable varieties to grow. Whenever we can, we grow from organic, heirloom seeds and root stock. We never use genetically modified organisms.

We are dedicated to growing fruits and vegetables in ways that don't damage the environment in which they grow or the people who consume them. Our fertilizers are always organic. We also avoid using poisons and toxins to control insects, weeds, and disease.

Farm founder Leah learned to garden from her father and originally used his old-timey methods. Over the years, we have adapted from more current and popular methods, like permaculture and hugelkultur. On any given year, you will find a variety of growing methods employed on the farm as we experiment, evaluate, and learn.

We believe that food grown locally, seasonally, and sustainably doesn't just taste better and isn't just more health inducing but is more humane and socially just, too. We hope you will appreciate the vision we have for our farm and that you will join us in making it a reality by purchasing your produce here.

Grand Prairie Mushrooms
Biography

Grand Prairie Mushrooms is a small indoor gourmet mushroom cultivation facility located south of Wellington, Kansas. We grow a variety of mushrooms using biodegradable bags with an emphasis on organic practices and substrate health!
We were inspired to educate ourselves on the uses of fungi and the pivotal role mushrooms play in the overall health of people and our planet. Participating in the mushroom experience is fun and amusing while we continually learn the mycelium process.

We are currently working on empowering newcomers by creating home Mushroom Growing Kits. Mushroom Growing Kits will provide an opportunity for self-education and produce a truly superior fresh food which will be healthy and fun for the whole family. How many flushes can you get out of one grow kit? Spent mushroom substrate is also fantastic for the environment and is a great compost!
