Thanks to funding from the Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) Community Grant Program, the Health & Wellness Coalition partnered with K-State Research & Extension – Sedgwick County to successfully revive the ICT Food Circle Directory. Administered statewide by the Kansas Department of Health & Environment, the CDRR grant provides funding, training, and technical assistance to help communities implement evidence-based strategies that address chronic disease risks through improved nutrition, increased physical activity, and reduced tobacco use.
With this support, the ICT Food Circle Directory has been revitalized with updated listings, new local producers, and fresh promotional efforts, including a billboard and radio campaign. These updates help connect the community to fresh, local food options and support a stronger local food system.
This effort is part of the larger #ICTYourPlate movement, which encourages everyone to celebrate and share their local food experiences year-round. Use the hashtag on Instagram, Facebook, or any social platform to highlight your locally sourced meals, farmers market finds, recipes, and events. Whether you’re enjoying a farm-fresh dish or discovering a new producer, tagging #ICTYourPlate helps build awareness and excitement around healthy, locally produced foods.
By connecting local producers with consumers through the ICT Food Circle Directory, the effort promotes healthier lifestyles, strengthens the regional economy, and fosters a more resilient and sustainable food system for Wichita and surrounding communities.
