The Dale family roots run deep in Comanche County. For over 100 years, the Dale family has earned their livelihood from the land. The foundation for this longevity has been and continues to be our forage resources of native grass and alfalfa coupled with a commitment to be good stewards of these resources. As we strive to remain sustainable, we understand that we must better utilize these resources through improved grazing practices and reduced reliance on fuel and equipment. Over the last few years, we have realized that letting our animals remain in their natural environment – doing what they do best, grazing – will be our key to sustainability and another 100 years for Dales on the family farm.
Proudly serving Kansas Heritage meats. With everything for Black Angus hand selected by Creekstone Farms to Heritage Breed Chicken and Duck Eggs to Heritage Rabbit, our modern butcher shop takes pride in the quality and care that our farmers take in preparing the best meats and town. Also enjoy some of the artisan food prepared as well!
We are a small organic farm is south east Kansas that uses holistic management to raise grass-finished beef, pastured heritage pigs, and pastured poultry. The cows live on a mix of native and tame pastures while the pigs and chickens receive only non-GMO grain. No animal receives antibiotics and are treated with vet recommended medicine if they do become ill. Our poultry is processed at a USDA certified facility and our cattle and hogs are processed at a family owned custom butcher shop. Our animals will arrive at our farm at a young age then we are with them until the meat is loaded into your vehicle.
Faye Farms is a small family farm located in Udall, KS which is owned and operated by Mark and Heather Faye. Mark and Heather didn’t start their farming careers in Kansas. Their farm was originally located in Bayfield Wisconsin. With a desire for a warmer climate and better farming conditions they moved their entire farm 900 miles south in June of 2007. They moved 120 head of dairy cattle, 9 hogs, 3 boys, and 1 dog!
Faye Farms embraces diversity and strives to raise their livestock in a slower and simpler manner. Their animals are raised outdoors to harvest the benefits of green grass, fresh air, and sunshine. Mark and Heather work to raise their animals in their natural environment, yet they are provided shelter for inclement weather, and may be confined for brief periods for their protection. They look to heritage breeds such as Ayrshire cows and Hereford pigs to help them achieve their goals. While they are not new to farming, their farm is a work in progress. Projects and experiments keep things interesting!
Moving to Kansas from Dallas in 1998, we found a home just outside the charming small town of Valley Center. Major lifestyle change, exactly what we were looking for! Our intention was to produce at least some of our own food, and grow “organically” (back then you could still use that word).
Master Gardener training provided a solid knowledge base for my new environment, and when a MG friend suggested I grow cut flowers my path was forever altered! We sold flowers and herbs at several venues around the Wichita area for about 5 years.
A chronic illness that defied conventional medicine’s understanding took a toll for many years. But it inspired us to educate ourselves even further in the absolute necessity of real, pure, nutrient-dense food in order to support nature’s healing power. With much faith, work and determination, naturopathic methods have restored my health to a somewhat productive level. There’s still a lot of room for improvement!
Even though we had to scale waaay back during those years, we always managed to grow a few things just for our use. And we added a project here and there.
Then there’s the “livestock”! Starting with the chickens…then guineas…then two goats. Today we have 18! I’ve always been an animal lover, and our “barnyard pets” have been amazing therapy for me. And my former city-guy husband can’t imagine life without them…
Starting this year we’re getting back into providing flowers, veggies, herbs and berries for market. We’ll also have eggs from our small flock raised on pasture and organic feed.
As always, we’re also working this year to expand our very small venture–with our enduring commitment to quality.
We are a small family owned farm that has a mission to provide individuals with fresh, locally grown food using Organic principles. We currently supply the Beautiful Day Cafe with fresh eggs and produce. For more information check out our website.
